Patrick Sargent appointed SVP, GM of Cerner Government Services
Patrick Sargentgovernment health service veteran and retired army major general, joined identify (Nasdaq: CERN) as senior vice president and general manager of the company’s federal affairs, according to a post on LinkedIn.
The retired Army Major General joins Cerner Government Services from OptumServewhere he most recently served as SVP and led the strategic development of new business opportunities focused on the Department of Defense healthcare market.
Sargent previously served as president of emergency preparedness and response for OptumServe and chief of staff for the federal health services provider.
He oversaw several medical commands during his 35 years of service in the Army, which included assignments as Commanding General at the Army Medical Center of Excellence and Commander of the 421st Medical Evacuation Battalion.
FedHealthIT Reports Sargent previously supported work to roll out the electronic health records system at Madigan Army Medical Center in Washington state.
Cerner is part of an industry team that won the DOD’s multi-billion dollar, multi-year contract in July 2015 to integrate a commercial EHR platform across the military health system.
